GIFEC Wins 3 Awards at GITTA 2019

The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has bagged three awards at the just ended Ghana Information Technology & Telecom Awards (GITTA).

The CEO of GIFEC Abraham Kofi Asante was adjudged the Public Sector ICT CEO of the Year for his sterling leadership.

He is credited for spearheading the deployment of 400 telephony and internet service sites as part of the Organization’s Rural Telephony Project and the establishment of over 200 Cyber laboratories in schools and deprived communities throughout Ghana.

Significantly, the ICT capacities have been built for over 400,000 participants in the informal sector to bring them into the information society from 2017 to date.

GIFEC, the institution he superintends over also picked up awards for Excellence in Promoting Government Digitization and also for Transforming Education through Technology. GIFEC is the Module Implementing Partner (MIP) of the Digitize Ghana, under the NABCO Programme.

The award ceremony is to honor dynamic and hardworking individuals and institutions in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry in Ghana who were endeared in the year under review.

It is the biggest ICT event in Ghana and it recognizes innovation and achievement in the Nation’s ICT Landscape.

GIFEC won these awards in recognition of its tireless efforts and commitment to offering outstanding service and innovation in the ICT industry.

It is the implementing Agency under the Ministry of Communications and has over the years facilitated the provision of Universal Access of affordable ICTs to all persons for socio-economic development.

“Winning these awards has further encouraged the Agency to adopt needed technological strategies to bridge the digital divide between the served and underserved communities in Ghana, Abraham Kofi Asante said.

The event was attended by captains in the technology sector including the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who has been instrumental in transforming Public Administration using ICT.
