GIFEC will Strengthen Electronic Communication Services – Tanko Computer

The acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer has pledged to strengthen the activities of the organisation prioritizing the electronic communication needs of Ghanaians.
In an exclusive interview on Channel One Newsroom on Tuesday, February 18, Tanko highlighted that only a small percentage of Ghanaians are aware of GIFEC due to the agency’s past shortcomings in service delivery.
Tanko emphasised that GIFEC under his watch will see to the provision of the internet for underserved communities, ensuring that at least 80% of these communities secure internet connection before the end of the NDC four-year tenure.
This move, he posits, will aid the Electoral Commission to effectively hold its online voters exhibition in all parts of the country without limitation.
“The communication aspect of it is what we are going to do rebranding, it is one of the areas I am focusing on to bring it publicly to the doorstep of every Ghanaian so that they get to understand that, these services are there and we were not aware.
“A lot of communities are not aware that these services are there and why should they say, ‘We have network challenge when GIFEC is there?’ he stated.
He also revealed that GIFEC will leverage community information Centres to educate local farmers on the use of technology to undertake their activities.
