GIFEC Engages Obuasi Municipal Assembly on ICT Development and Youth Empowerment

The Administrator of Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications(GIFEC), Mr. Tanko Rashid-Computer, on March 26, 2026, received a delegation from the Obuasi Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Faustylove Appiah Kanin to strengthen collaboration on digital inclusion.

The MCE, accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Amortey Meazah; the Municipal Finance Officer, Mr. Yahaya Zakaria; and the Municipal Planning Officer, Mr. Owusu Agyemang, highlighted the need for ICT skills training to provide sustainable alternatives to illegal mining (galamsey) among the youth. The delegation also appealed for support in establishing ICT laboratories and explored opportunities under the Government’s “One Million Coders” initiative.

Mr. Tanko Rashid-Computer reaffirmed GIFEC’s commitment to partnering with MMDAs to expand ICT access, bridge the digital divide, and support community development through technology-driven initiatives.
