Tanko Rashid Computer appointed acting Administrator of GIFEC

President John Mahama has appointed Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer as the Acting Administrator (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC).
Mr. Rashid Computer, who confirmed his appointment to Graphic Online, is set to officially assume office on Friday, February 14, 2025.
Before his appointment, he served as the Deputy National Director of Elections and Information Technology (IT) for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). With a strong background in governance, technology, and education, Dr. Computer is expected to bring a wealth of experience to his new role.
He holds MSc degrees in Criminal Justice and Public Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts degree. He is also currently pursuing an LLB degree.
Mr. Rashid Computer has held several notable positions in public administration, including Northern Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Regional Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
In academia, he has lectured at Tamale College of Education (TATCO), Tamale Technical University (TATU), and Bimbilla Senior High School (BIMBISEC). He has also worked as an Assistant Examiner at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
His political experience is extensive, having played key roles in the NDC’s Elections and IT Directorate. He has served as Deputy National Director of Elections and IT, Head of Recruitment, Training, Examination, and Deployment, and Regional Director of Elections for the Northern Region. Additionally, he has been the Regional Treasurer of the NDC and a Collation Agent for the party in various by-elections.
As acting Administrator of GIFEC, Mr. Rashid Computer is expected to leverage his expertise to advance the fund’s mission of promoting information technology and bridging the digital divide in Ghana. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen GIFEC’s operations and impact in the country’s electronic communication and IT sector.
