“I Believe in You, And So Should You” – Mr. Prince Sefah

News & Media

The Administrator of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Mr. Prince Ofosu Sefah, has urged beneficiaries of the 2021 Girls-in-ICT programme to believe in themselves and take advantage of opportunities and resources available to them to achieve more.

He said this at the Climax of the Girls-in-ICT Celebrations in Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region and emphasized the need to bridge the Gender Digital Divide, hence GIFEC’s strong technical support, in terms of the provision of equipment and human resources for the Girls-in-ICT training over the years.

Mr. Sefah also mentioned the conscious effort being made by GIFEC to provide digital skills to disadvantaged sub populations which include girls, by implementing the “ICT Skills for Entrepreneurial Women Empowerment” project. “This has been made possible through partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), with more than 400 females benefitting from it already”, He said.

In congratulating the Girls, he expressed his exhilaration to be present at this year’s programme and stressed on the marvelous display of brilliance.

He urged the girls to be self-initiated, Self-Motivated, and have a positive mindset to be very productive, regardless of the social or work climate. He further encouraged them to have strong Self-Belief, and never be afraid to try new things.

He also touched on his vision as the newly-appointed Administrator of GIFEC, and remarked that “I am working with my team, to create a more vigorous, ambitious and professional GIFEC to achieve optimal productivity, and this undoubtedly is intended to create more opportunities for our Future Leaders, in whom we have absolute confidence.” He said that he can achieve a stronger envisioned GIFEC by streamlining internal structures and processes as well as motivating staff even more, with the ultimate goal of ensuring optimal achievement of GIFEC’s objectives.

GIFEC has executed a number of projects to provide avenues for children, specifically and including girls, to ensure they have requisite tools and resources to succeed in the ICT space.

This year’s Girls-in-ICT programme was held in the Western North Region with thousand girls from selected basic schools from all Districts within the region.

Under the theme “Connected Girls, Creating Brighter Futures”, the programme is a flagship project of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation and an initiative of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), aimed at encouraging Girls to opt for careers within the Information and Communication Technology ICT (Sector).
